Sapulpa Community Theatre, Inc. had its humble beginnings back in 1978 when a small group of actors, lead by John B. Clark and Wanda Lovelace, banded together as the Sapulpa Community Players. The principal goal was to produce shows as a fund-raising vehicle for local charities.
In the latter part of 1988, a non-profit 501 (c)3 corporation was formed and became Sapulpa Community Theatre, Inc.
Having high hopes – but only $500 in cash – the new corporation set its sights on the old Church of Christ, Scientist building at 124 S. Water Street. In June 1989, a group of six people backed a note to purchase the building for $27,000.
Due to the overwhelming support of businesses and foundation grants, renovations were made which totaled $20,000. In August 1991, the final payment on the original building note was made.
Since then, a storage facility has been built and maintenance continues to preserve the theatre building.
Our Theatre remains open by generous donations by our Patrons and through ticket sales. If you would like to share a tax deductible Donation, please visit our contact page and let us know.
