On November 11th, 2005, a black tie ball was held in Tulsa, attended by many oil industry professionals, historians and others interested in the one single event that helped establish Tulsa as the Oil Capital of the World in its heyday.
The following day, Saturday, November 12th, the town of Glenpool turned out for a daylong celebration including a parade, live entertainment and concerts, old ‘tyme’ games and contests, oil field equipment displays, oil field tours, birthday cake and fireworks.
The Glenpool Commission Foundation Inc. led by the support of Explorer Pipeline, a corporate resident of Glenpool, has successfully commissioned both a book and a video commemorating the historical significance of the Glenn Pool oil field. These items are available from the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce or at other area book stores including Glenpool’s “Nancy’s Unique Gifts”. A limited number of Commemorative Tee-Shirts are also available.
Call the Chamber for more information at (918) 322-3505.
